Playing in a land-based
casino or in an online casino can be equally fun. In both “worlds” one can experience the excitement of having the chance on some big winnings. However, gambling is not only about winning and it is really important to understand this before entering a gambling place or signing-up somewhere online. The possibility of winning is something like a component of the whole experience. Another component is losing and the third one is all the fun that comes along with playing when you assume away the money part.
In order to get the most out of your casino experience you have to see gambling as something that lets you truly relax or that is pure fun. It is comparable to having a nice dinner or going to the cinema after work. Assume that going to the cinema costs you 8€ and the film is 2 hours long. Think of your favourite movie. Would you be willing to pay 10€? 14€? The amount at which you are indifferent between watching and not watching (economists say: where consumer surplus is zero) is your estimation of what 2 hours of fun are worth.
If you go to the casino, plan with losing (!) this amount in 2 hours. It’s ok to say “I want to spend 200€ tonight on gambling,” (I’d like to know that movie’s name though!) but it’s a bad idea to say “I’d like to win some money tonight” without knowing how much you are willing to lose. Never try to win back losses or you will find yourself in a vicious circle. If you don’t have fun anymore and get all stressed, stop playing. Work on your bankroll management and you will have a lot of fun in any casino and card room.
